By default, photos and other files transferred over AirDrop are stored in the Downloads folder. You can navigate to this through the Finder by navigating to ‘Go’ - ‘Downloads, or through the Dock of the Mac OS. I was reading either my iPhone help manual or my MacBook Air manual last week and somewhere it said to select the iPhone icon on my desktop for some reason. I don't remember what I was looking for at the time. I understand your answer, but I'm wondering why it said that.
